Iranian short ‘Cradle of Silence’ to vie in Brazil

Iran’s ‘Cradle of Silence’ is to compete at the 2020 FestCine Itaúna int’l filmfest in Brazil.

Iranian short title ‘Cradle of Silence’ has been selected to compete at the 2020 edition of the FestCine Itaúna international film festival in Brazil.

Directed by Mostafa Mehraban, the 13-minute flick tells the story of Rasoul who has to deliver a cradle to his martyred friend’s widow.

With Rasoul returning from the southern war zone to the northern part of the country, his wife Laya plans on going back to the war zone with him.

The cradle becomes an excuse for Rasoul to reject his wife’s request.

The short film has gone on screen at global events such as the 2019 New York’s Montauk Film Festival and the 5th Reading Film Festival, both in the US.

The FestCine Itaúna aims to uphold cinematographic culture by holding free exhibitions and workshops for the public.

It encourages young filmmakers to explore new ways of communicating.

The 2020 edition of the event will be held online on August 17-22.
